Minecraft server status checker
Type a server address and see what the game's server list would see: online or not, the message of the day, the version, and who is on.
How it works
- Type the address the way you type it in the game. A port is optional.
- The page pings the server the way the multiplayer list does.
- Read the version line first when you cannot join: it says which game version the server runs.
- Wondering whether Minecraft itself is down? See the Minecraft status page.
Questions
- How does the check work?
- The page does what the game's multiplayer list does: it opens a connection to the server, sends a status request, and shows the answer. That answer is the server's own: its message of the day, its version, how many players are on, and its icon.
- The server is online but I cannot join. Why?
- A status ping does not log in. The server can be full, whitelisted, on a version your game cannot join, or your own connection can be blocked where ours is not. The version line here tells you the first of those at once.
- Does it work for Bedrock servers?
- No. Bedrock servers answer a different protocol over UDP, which this page cannot send. A Bedrock address shows as unreachable here even when the server is fine.
- What does "via the SRV record" mean?
- Some server owners point play.example.net at another host and port through a DNS SRV record. The game follows it when you type an address without a port, and so does this page. The line shows where the connection really went.
- Why does the player count differ from the game?
- Answers are held for 30 seconds, and the count moves. Press Check again for a fresh one. Some servers also report a fixed number on purpose.
- Is Minecraft itself down?
- That is a different question: Mojang's login, session and skin services. The status page checks those.
