Image to Minecraft skin
Open a photo, put the square on the face, and get a skin built from your picture: the face at 8×8, the shirt, the trousers and the arms from the bands around it.
How it works
- Open a picture. A standing person, face near the top, works best.
- Drag the square onto the face. The dashed bands show what each body part will be read from.
- Check the character in 3D. Switch Classic and Slim, and turn the hair layer on or off.
- Download the PNG, or finish the details in the skin editor.
Questions
- What kind of picture works?
- A photo of one person, standing, face near the top, on a plain background. A drawing of a character works the same way. The face square is the only part you place; the tool reads the shirt, trousers and arms from the bands under and beside it.
- Is this an AI skin generator?
- No. It maps your picture onto the skin: the face square becomes the 8×8 face, and each body band becomes the colour of that part. No image model, no upload, no account. It gives you a faithful base in one second; the editor is where the eyes, the collar and the shoes go.
- Why does the face look like a blur of colour?
- Because it is 8 pixels across. A real face at 8×8 is skin tone with two dark dots where the eyes are, which is what every Minecraft face is. Move the square so the eyes sit about a third of the way down, then sharpen them in the editor.
- Can it copy a skin from a screenshot of another skin?
- No. It reads a picture of a person, not a texture. To copy a skin you have the file of, open the file in the editor. To copy a player's skin, use the skin stealer.
- Does the picture leave my computer?
- No. It is decoded and sampled in your browser, and the skin is built there too. Nothing is uploaded.
