Minecraft capes

Every official cape, ranked by how many players wear it. Each page says how the cape was earned, when, and whether you can still get it.

How capes work

You cannot craft one.
Mojang grants every cape. Most mark an event, a promotion or an account milestone, and most stop after a set date. The Pan Cape is the one every player has.
A cape is one small file.
A 64×32 texture, separate from the skin. The elytra wings use the same file, so a cape also changes how your elytra look.
Codes are redeemed on minecraft.net.
Stream and event capes come as a code. Sign in at minecraft.net/redeem with the Microsoft account that owns the game, then enter it.
Mod capes are not counted here.
OptiFine, LabyMod and similar capes show only to players with that mod. They are not on the profile, so this page does not see them.

About the numbers

The player counts are ours. They count the players this site tracks who wear each cape on their profile right now, not every Minecraft account. Mojang publishes no total, so the share column is the best available read of how rare a cape is. The names, dates and grant rules were checked against the Minecraft Wiki.

Want to see a cape on a real player? Look up a username and the 3D view shows their skin with their cape.
