Minecraft Crafting Recipes
Every recipe the game ships, on the grid you actually use. Search an item to see how it is made, then click any ingredient to follow the chain back.
1,554 recipes, from the game itself.
Search for an item to see every way to make it, and everything it goes into.
How it works
- Type part of an item's name, then pick it from the list.
- Read the grid: the squares on the left are what you put in, and the square on the right is what you get.
- A square that cycles takes any of the items it shows. A crafting table wants any planks, not oak planks in particular.
- Click any ingredient to jump to its own recipe, and keep going until you reach something you dig up.
Java Edition data, and Bedrock agrees on nearly all of it. Thirty-one recipes the game builds in code, such as copying a banner or making a firework, are not shown.
Questions
- Does it matter where in the grid I put the items?
- For most recipes the shape matters but the position does not. A torch is coal above a stick, and that pair works in any of the three columns. A few recipes ignore arrangement completely, and those are marked as such here.
- Why does a slot keep changing?
- Because the game accepts more than one item there. A crafting table takes any planks, so the square cycles through the woods that work. Any one of them is fine.
- Some recipes are missing. Which ones?
- Thirty-one, and they are the ones the game builds in code rather than describing as data: copying a banner, cloning a written book, making a firework rocket or star, dyeing armor, repairing two damaged tools together, extending a map, and putting a banner on a shield. Every other recipe in the game is here.
- Is this the same for Bedrock?
- Almost entirely. The recipes come from the Java data files, and the two editions agree on nearly every one. Where they differ it is usually a stonecutter recipe or a small ingredient change.
- Why does an item say nothing crafts it?
- Because nothing does. Ores, most mob drops, spawn eggs and the creative-only blocks are found or given, never made at a table.
- What is the number in the corner of the result?
- How many you get from one craft. Planks give four, sticks give four, and torches give four.
