How it works
- Put your current level in the first box and the level you want in the second.
- Read the points between them, and the running total at the level you asked for.
- Use the second card the other way round: type a point total and see the level it reaches.
- The list at the bottom is what each source gives, so you can work out how many of a thing you need.
Both editions. Every figure is the game's own, and the ranges are ranges because the game rolls them.
Questions
- Why does a level cost more the higher you go?
- Because the game changes formula twice. Up to level 15 a level costs 2 times your level plus 7. From 16 to 30 it is 5 times your level minus 38. From 31 up it is 9 times your level minus 158, so the cost climbs steeply after 30.
- How much XP is level 30?
- 1,395 points from nothing. That is the level an enchanting table wants for its best offer, which is why it is the number most people are after.
- Does the enchanting table take all my levels?
- No. It takes up to three, and it also takes lapis lazuli. The level 30 requirement is what you must HAVE, not what you spend.
- What is the fastest way to get levels?
- A monster spawner you can farm, or trading with villagers. Ores give a few points each and mobs give five, so a spawner running steadily beats mining by a wide margin.
- Do I keep experience when I die?
- You drop most of it and can pick some back up, but the game caps what a death drops. Nothing here models that; these are the costs, not what survives a fall.
- Is Bedrock the same?
- Yes for the level costs. The formulas above are the same in both editions.
